ROSA® Knee Robotic Technology
Each patient is unique, and so is their anatomy. That’s why the ROSA Knee System was designed to help surgeons offer a higher standard of care by providing patients with an individualized knee replacement that is tailored to their specific anatomy.
How Does ROSA Knee Work?
ROSA Knee is a robotic surgical assistant that assists your surgeon throughout the planning and surgical process. With it, your surgeon has the ability to create a 3D model of your knee’s anatomy using a series of X-rays. This allows them to plan out your knee replacement prior to surgery and develop a surgical plan tailored to you.
During surgery, ROSA Knee uses real-time information to assist your surgeon in removing the damaged bone, precisely placing the artificial joint, and assessing the state of soft tissues. It also utilizes a camera as well as optical trackers that are attached to your leg to know the precise position of your knee. This not only helps your surgeon carry out the individualized surgical plan accurately, but it also helps them precisely place the implant.
Who Can Benefit From a ROSA Knee Joint Replacement?
ROSA Knee robotic-assisted total knee replacement provides patients with a multitude of benefits; however, it is typically recommended for patients meeting specific criteria as well as patients who:
- Are experiencing severe knee pain
- Are unable to accomplish everyday tasks due to joint pain
- Have arthritis or osteoarthritis
- Have exhausted all applicable nonsurgical treatment options, such as physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medication, and injections
