Appalachian Orthopedics Offering Safe Care for All Orthopedic Needs During COVID-19
To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, Appalachian Orthopedics is remaining open to reduce ER and traditional urgent care traffic for area residents with bone, joint and muscle concerns. The practice is also taking all necessary precautions by following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as the Tennessee Department of Health. For those who have an orthopedic condition or injury, you are encouraged to call one of their locations to make an appointment: Abingdon at (276) 477-1443, Bristol Regional Medical Center at (423) 844-6450, Bristol Midway at (423) 968-4446, or Johnson City at (423) 434-6300. Walk-ins are also accepted at the practice’s Orthopedic Urgent Care clinics at their Bristol Midway office, located at 260 Midway Medical Park, Suite 100, and their Johnson City office, located at 3 Professional Park Drive, Suite 21.
“During this difficult time with COVID-19, we are continuing to serve the Tri-Cities region and their bone, joint and muscle needs,” says T. Lisle Whitman, M.D., orthopedic surgeon and practice president of Appalachian Orthopedics. “We know many patients have concerns visiting an ER or traditional urgent care, and our clinics and Orthopedic Urgent Care locations remain open to provide immediate treatment for patients suffering from acute orthopedic injuries and conditions as well as to alleviate some strain on our health system.”
Patients can also walk into Appalachian Orthopedics’ Bristol Midway and Johnson City Orthopedic Urgent Care clinics Monday through Saturday.
In alignment with the CDC and Tennessee Department of Health, Appalachian Orthopedics is taking the following precautions:
- A screening process has been set up for patients to go through upon arrival to keep sick or at-risk patients out of the office.
- We have systems in place to avoid crowded waiting rooms.
- We sterilize every exam room between patient visits.
“We will continue to closely monitor the recommendations set forth by the CDC and Tennessee Department of Health to ensure we’re doing everything we can to keep our patients and staff healthy,” says Dr. Whitman.
