Comprehensive Sports Medicine Athletes Trust

At Appalachian Orthopedics, we offer athletes quick access to optimized medical care so you can return to full health and get back on the field. Our sports medicine doctors will apply their expertise directly to your situation and guide you toward a treatment option that will help reduce your pain and address your injury or condition. Many sports-related injuries can be treated without surgery through conservative methods. Other times, the condition may be more severe and orthopedic surgery is recommended. Whether or not the treatment requires surgery, rehabilitation is often needed after a sports-related injury, and we offer access to specialized and collaborative physical therapy, so our sports medicine experts can help you every step of the way, from treatment through recovery.

Our sports medicine experts specialize in treating the following sports injuries and conditions:

  • Bursitis
  • Cartilage tear
  • Concussion
  • Fracture
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis)
  • Iliotibial band syndrome
  • Ligament (ACL or PCL) tear
  • Meniscus tear
  • Plica syndrome
  • Rotator cuff injury
  • Runner's knee (patellofemoral pain syndrome)
  • Shoulder impingement
  • Shoulder instability
  • Sprain or strain
  • Tendonitis
  • Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)

Your Sports Injury Needs Met

If nonsurgical or pain management treatments fail to provide relief for your sports-related injury or condition, our sports medicine doctors have skills in advanced surgical techniques and access to the latest technology and resources to perform a surgical procedure that can help reduce or eliminate your pain and improve your mobility.

In addition to providing exceptional orthopedic sports medicine care, our doctors also offer the following services:

  • Concussion management
  • Exertional compartment testing
  • Football helmet analysis
  • Gait analysis

Working alongside our sports medicine specialists, our licensed physical therapists provide a full and comprehensive set of outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation services. They treat each patient's problem individually through an evaluation to design a specific treatment plan with the overall goal of restoring function and enhancing one's quality of life.

Before, during, and after treatment, our patients can access our Online Guide to Sports Medicine for helpful resources and information on sports injury treatments, injury prevention tips, recommendations for improving athletic performance, and new procedures and programs offered at Appalachian Orthopedics.
